Safe Chemical Handling Training
Scope of the Project
The training involves imparting of safe chemical handling practices and expects to ensure that the supplier is able to meet the requirements and comply with the guidelines of the procurer.
The objectives are to:
- To promote safe chemical handling practices in an industry
- To impart training on safe solutions for handling chemicals among the target groups
- An introduction to chemicals
- Buying chemicals - includes information on buyers responsibility towards their workers, good and bad practices, importance of labeling
- Storing at the factory site - where and how to store, good and bad practices
- Safety rules of handling - includes effect on health, how they effect, what precautions to take, the right personal protective equipment
- Safe disposal - why dispose safely, how to dispose, precautions to be taken
Target Group
The target groups for the training are all those working with chemicals - shop floor workers, store in-charge, housekeeping staff and management staff responsible for buying and disposal of chemicals.
Timeline
The overall duration of the training at a given factory will be 3 hrs including half hour break for a factory round along with the trainees. Numbers of trainees expected in the training are not more than 20.
Content of training
Prior to the training we send a questionnaire to know the chemicals being used at the factory and subsequently we do a pre-visit of the factory to customize the training.
During the training we have a hands-on session with the workers. We provide reading material, pictorial best practices guidebook (if there are a series of trainings conducted) posters on the training information and try and prepare any other material depending on the need. We also have a feedback form that helps us improve our further trainings.
We have prepared an elaborate training content that covers all topics so we customize the material according to the need and the target group.
